guitar center Charlie Lim - Light Breaks In | Cover by Reening

Its been a long time since the last video and I decided to amp up the production value for this shoot. I called up my friend Jeremy Jecky who specializes in these kinds of shoots (as I am completely clueless at how to edit a video apart from the standard one camera angle shot) to help out. And as of right now, I'm having a Charlie Lim craze, so I decided to cover his song Light Breaks In for the shoot.

One of the main challenges of this cover was finding the right place to film. We chose UNIMAS as our main convergence point and proceeded on to search for a suitable venue. We wanted a raw feel so we opted to also include the background noise for an added ambiance effect.

However, upon reaching UNIMAS, it started to rain heavily for 2 hours and we were stuck under our umbrellas, shoes wet and haplessly going from spot to spot. When the rain died down, we walked through a rather secluded area within one of UNIMAS' many faculties and immediately felt that we found our filming spot. And the after rain effect added a subtle impact to the scene.

Jeremy and I then decided to split the workflow to make things easier for post production. Audio would be under my supervision while video editing would be under him. So what you're seeing and hearing now is the culmination of both our efforts throughout the week. When I look back at my previous cover videos and compare them to this shoot, I realise how far along the way I've come. Its not professional level yet, but its loads better as compared to the first few videos I've posted.

Note: Audio is directly from the camera, with a rode microphone attached. It was then post edited in Reaper.

I had great fun filming and editing the audio and I was particularly impressed as well with the final video edit by Jeremy. I hope all of you enjoy what we have come up with and it would mean a lot of us if you could help spread the word.
